This book holds a very different view on the Countess's supposed crimes and later imprisonment. While the story does include her killing quite a few girls, and yes nobles as well, there is a political slant that is obviously there to show the possibility of a conspiracy against her. Also, strangely enough, this book ends with Elizabeth being set free and some other girl being led into the castle, obviously to take the place of Elizabeth's body. I have never before heard/read anything that suggested she may not have actually died in captivity there, so it was a very interesting thing to ponder.
I really wish the author had spoken more about his knowledge/research in the notes at the end, because he really brings to light some interesting angles to explore. (
