One of the very first mysteries I ever read, and still one of the most enjoyable. Lucille Kallen brings Tanglewood, Lenox, and Western Mass. alive as few can. And C.B. Greenfield is one of the most quirky, enjoyable, and occasionally frustrating detectives in all of literature. ( )

Reporter Maggie Rome and her boss Charlie Greenfield head to the Tanglewood Music Center to enjoy some of the Boston Symphony Orchestra's summer offerings. When one of the performers dies during a rehearsal, it becomes obvious that he did not die of natural causes. The pair sets out to investigate. Lots of motives; lots of suspects. I enjoyed the description of Tanglewood and some of the characterization. In the end, however, the revelation of the murderer was not very satisfying. ( )

Narrator is a reporter on a small town paper. Her boss is the editor. Not a pair you would expect to solve crimes. While at a classic music festival, a murder with a mysterious method occurs.
I loved the characters, enjoyed the mystery. ( )
