#197 Good for you! 8) BN: Missie is reading Eragon and came across a section about a town that had been destroyed. In this town there was a pile of corpses and there was a baby on the top of the pile. She is now sobbing because she keeps thinking about Theo in that situation and I feel like ...

# 37 - I read Eragon. it wasn't good enough to make me really want to read the later books in the series. I might someday get around to reading them but I'm not in any real hurry to sample some more highly derivative... fiction. I felt the same way about The Traveler and its sequels.

I know The Christmas Box began as a self-published work, and I think maybe Eragon did too but I'm not positive about that one. It would be great to have a source showing which ones 'made it!'

... dragon/adventure books from the likes of Robin McKinley or (it kills me to even mention this on my thread) Paolini's Eragon are going to find a pleasant read here. (Okay, I have to say it: George's book is a lighter treatment, but also a flat out better book than anything Paolini has ...

... of the best fantasy books which I had a chance to read until now. For sure if you're after reading A Game of Thrones or Eragon, then maybe it will not be soooo good as it was for me. But I found it very interesting, it kept my attention all the time, I liked the characters and also ...

Long books.... Have you read Eragon, Eldest and Brisingr by Christopher Paolini? Those are my favorite LONG teen books but there are so many god ones out there. Mariane Curley's books are fairly long and she's an awesome author! Wariors by Erin Hunter are kinda pre-teen but I'm 15 and ...

Heh, thanks, StormRaven. Maybe if I tried again I'd at least be able to pinpoint what turns me off. Another one was Eragon. I have several friends who loved it (the same friends, admittedly, who DIDN'T like LotR because it was "too descriptive," "too slow," etc.). In fact, one of the most ...

I'm running to Eragon by Christopher Paolini. I drive to The Jungle by Upton Sinclair. I'm halfway through both and I wish I had picked some lighter reading! I knew The Jungle wouldn't be an uplifting story, but geez! Sometimes you need a pick-me-up after work.

I remember Eragon being an intensely mediocre rehash of the fantasy genre in general. It was mildly entertaining, but certainly not _good_. I HATED Twilight. Such a creepy book, the characters are awful, and he heart literally stops with Edward kisses her? Just no. I remember liking ...

Twilight, hands down... Eragon was a disappointment as well.

I am currently reading Eragon by Christopher Paolini. 1. Where did you get this book? A friend of mine loaned it to me 2. How much did it cost? Well, we swapped books for the week, but we'll eventually return them. So in the end, nothing. ;) 3. Why did you pick this book to read ...

I just finished reading Trickster's Queen by Tamora Pierce and I'm still reading Nest in the Wind and Eragon

Dragon books are most definitely not my speciality but it's that what happens in Eragon? I must admit I didn't take a lot of notice as it was a long way off being my favourite book, but it's ringing faint bells.

Catch-22 - But I will get back to it again. Eragon - Impossible to read, worst book I've ever tried to read. Not that it was badly written, but it was so unbelievably boring!

FFortuna in Book talk : Eragon (May 13, 2009, 2:48pm)

I like Eragon. I liked Eldest pretty well too. Brisingr stunned me with how TERRIBLE it was. If you like fantasy, Eragon is an example of all the fantasy tropes done correctly and you should read it. Don't bother with Brisingr, it reads like an RPG guide.

There is also Eragon and its sequels, and also Twilight Child its also a classic. Oh yeah! have you read DragonLance? its really good.

#89 Eragon - Christopher Paolini. I bought this when it was new and being heavily promoted. I took it home and read the first few chapters and then shelved it. It was slow starting, derivative and a bit clunky. I decided to give it another go, and forced myself through it but to be honest I ...

I am in a decided minority here but I liked all three of the books. My grandson and I started with Eragon together, and both looked forward to Eldest. I don't think he liked Eldest so I went ahead and read the third one, Brisingr, on my Kindle. I liked them alll. I don't call them ...

Eye of the world was my first thought, thought there is only a father, but it also seems near identical to a scene in Eragon though I think he might have remembered the bit about a dragon if it was. I'd have to say that I hated Eragon the most. I hated this book so much because of it blantant rip off of other stories (Star Wars being the biggest one I noticed). Plus the writing was horrible. Sounds somewhat like Eragon by Christopher Paolini. A young boy (Eragon) finds a stone (dragon's egg) in the forest, which was tossed there by an elf girl trying to prevent it from getting in the hands of the enemy. The boy lives with his brother and uncle (Garrow) and cousin (Roran). You can ...

Paola, may I have The Inheritance?

This isn't a romance book but my friend bought me a fantasy book called Eragon by Christopher Paolini. It was good enough read for me to go out and buy volumes 2 Eldest and 3 Brisingr. At the moment i am reading A Garden in the Rain by Lynn Kurland.

I'm gonna have to add my two-cents and mention Christopher Paolini and his Inheritance Trilogy again. I loved - really really loved - the first two books when I read them a couple years ago. When the third one came out, I thought I would reread the first two. I couldn't figure out what about ...

Ahhh... finally a place for me!! I hated Eragon and King Dork. I couldn't get through the first 100 pages of the book. I have a 100 page rule and King Dork was utterly awful!! As for Eragon, once someone told me that it was written by a teenaged boy who was a video game freak... it all fell ...

I'm glad I'm not alone in my hating Eragon! I couldn't get through it. Half way through, I watched the movie hoping that I was just missing something or it would get better at the end, I was disappointed so the book went back on the shelf where it has stayed. I really don't know why ...

Nope I have nothing to blog about 8) The next person is excited about the 3rd book in the Inheritence Cycle (Eragon,Eldest) coming out in September.

I could probably have written Eragon better if I was older.
