When we strive for holiness, we are striving to reflect more of Him. Bridges handles the subject well, keeping the focus on God while also stressing our responsibility in our own actions. I would recommend to anyone. ( )"Though we think of of holiness in a more narrow sense of separation from impurity and moral evil, in its broad sense holiness is obedience to the will of God in whatever God directs." So be it! This book captivated me at the introduction and kept me the whole way through. Bridges address God's holiness, our sin and a way to pursue God's directive to, "Be Holy as I am Holy." A passage not easily understood and often misused, but this book really allows us to address our sin and God's perfection and to walk in a proper response. This is a great book! I could not put this book down. Recently I adopted a new reading strategy. In short, I spend 3 hours one afternoon a week to dive into a book. There is no intention of finishing, just to get some special time in. I started reading this on a Tuesday and had it completed by Thursday afternoon. I will revisit this book frequently! The MOST CONVICTING BOOK (besides Scripture) that I have ever read. It is a must have for any library, and I don't say that often - it is my favorite book of time up till now Michael Comments: I've read this book twice since since 2006 and continue to use it as a reference. To sum up the key point of Bridges book the Bible passage Leviticus 11:44 which states 'Be holy, because I am holy'is used to convey the message that the Lord commands us all to strive to be holy. Of course, as sinners, and best said in Romans 3:23 'for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God', we all face obstacles that continue to try to hold us from striving to be holy. In fact, at times, we're convinced that we cannot meet the expectations of the Lord to be holy. Bridges book challenges us to be holy because that is what God commands us to do. The Lord knows we have been made imperfect by sin but he still commands us to be holy. There are some key passages I recommend reading from the bible that Bridge's references in this book that support that Lord commands us all to strive to be holy. Some of these key verses are: John 14:21, 1 Cor 6:12, Psalm 139:23-24. no reviews | add a review
