( )I really loved book one, and think that most students will really enjoy the idea behind that book as well. I'm not so certain that students will embrace book two as easily..It would be a great way to introduce historical periods to students, but I'm not sure how many of them will be interested in the fifteenth century. Alex and Chip, along with Katherine and Jonah go back to medieval time. Chip is Edward the V, King of England, and Alex is his younger brother the Duke of York. Chip thinks that Richard of Gloucester wants the throne for himself and plans to murder Chip. If the kids can go back into time and "fix" history, they will all be allowed to return to present day. Haddix does a great job of capturing the details of the fifteenth century. Due to the fact that it isn't a period of time that is part of our (Canadian) history or social studies curriculum, I don't know how excited the students will be to read about that period of time. I would have liked to have known more about the period of history the characters are sent to, before I began the story. I wish the author would have set the stage a little by giving some brief comments about the time period as an introduction to the story. Overall, I thought that it was a worthy contribution to time-travel fiction. no reviews | add a review
