I found this book incredibly gripping. The sense of being right there, in ancient Egypt, was evoked through the use of lyrical and languid language. The story is exceedingly dramatic - Shakespearean really. It is a beautifully told tale of power and evil, goodness and truth, love and hate - it has everything. ( )

I liked the story well enough. It has an Oedipus the King sort of feel to it.... that is, once fate has got a hold of you, you cannot escape its grasp. I was disappointed to learn that the "historical" aspect of this historical fiction is minimal. ( )
