Amazon.com Product Description (ISBN 0914868144, Paperback)

The Field Museum's exhibit, "Inside Ancient Egypt," tries to explain the meaning of both artifactual and architectural evidence of this ancient African culture and to fill in the blanks with which the familiar imagery leaves us. The Museum's Egyptian collection contains material from the prehistoric era, from almost every dynasty of the 3,000-year span of Pharaonic times that began nearly 5,000 years ago, and from Christian and Medieval Egypt. The exhibit uses these artifacts to tell a chronological story of princes and kings, art and religion, mummies and the Afterlife.
