This book is a technical how-to book about acquiring and seasoning wood flitches to make them suitable for wood carving or wood working. To the best of this reviewer’s knowledge it is the only book in the field of wood carving that addresses the issue from the standpoint of science and engineering. The author takes the reader step-by-step: tools needed for cutting flitches, tree felling, cutting, preparing, drying, and storage of flitches. The book has a list of scientific references and an index. ( )
