This is the story of Dora Lee, a cook, and her employer, Evelyn Cavendish, Duchess of Devonshire. The book is a bit like Upstairs Downstairs, with the main emphasis seeming to be on Dora. The text draws heavily from Dora's own postcard collection. I wish the two worlds inhabited by the women were mixed a little more seamlessly. An interesting story though it dragged a bit in some places. ( )
