Sign up for LibraryThing to find out whether you'll like this book. No current Talk conversations about this book. I'm liking Sinclair more. I'm able to follow Betsy better. Still didn't feel the details of the sex scene at the end was needed, heck it was describe as an after thought not even during which seemed unnecessary. Yes, Ill read #3... now I have to know what happens. ( ) I've read Undead and Unemployed, the second book in Ms. Davidson's Queen Betsy series, before. I have listened to Nancy Wu's narration in audio editions of most of the rest of the series. This is the first time I've listened to this one, and it was as funny while being listened to as it was to read. This book introduces the mansion that Dr. Marc Spangler dubbed 'Vamp Central' as well as Jon Delk of the Blade Warriors. Detective Nick Berry has a role here: a conversation with Betsy, and taking the statement of a taxi driver saved by Betsy. Betsy obtains her dream job: selling fine footwear at the Macy's in the Mall of America. Too bad her vampire queen duties are interfering with that. Someone is killing vampires. As Tina points out to Betsy, it's her duty to protect the vampires. Tina falls victim to the Blade Warriors, while Monica, another vampire, escapes. Tall, dark, handsome, and arrogant Eric Sinclair, King of the vampires, gets Betsy to heal Tina. Then Betsy herself is attacked. Betsy's interactions with the teens who are the Blade Warriors, and their mentor, Father Markus, are funny. Her interactions with Sarah, a vampire who refers to Betsy as 'False Queen,' are not. There's also a darling little pre-schooler named Marie who appears to be living in Vamp Central. She clues Betsy into another power the vampire queen has that she didn't know about and doesn't appreciate. The relationship between Betsy and Eric is still antagonistic and hot. Betsy walks right into mortal peril. Will her friends rescue her in time? Will they even be needed? I recommend this book to readers who enjoyed the first book, Undead and Unwed, urban fantasy fans in general and vampire fans in particular. no reviews | add a review
