23. Three Bags Full, Leonie Swann (category 3) ** This was adorable! Who wouldn't love sheepy narration? Swann's characters are easy to like and relate to, despite not being humans--actually, most of the people come off quite poorly. ;) I found the sheeps' observations really cute. Many of the ...

There is a novel, written by a German, Leonie Swann who wrote Three Bags Full. A flock of sheep solve the murder of their shepherd.

I read and enjoyed, Three Bags Full, in English also. I talked about it way back at the top of this thread, message #7.

Has anybody read or listened too Three Bags Full: A Sheep Detective Story ? I was surprised to find that it was written in German.

... her nose into murders that happen on her doorstep) has kind of kept me away from mysteries lately. But I did just pick up Three Bags Full which is of all things, a murder mystery where the sheep are the detectives. I know it sounds a bit theme-y, but it's really not, and the sheep are great.

Three Bags Full sounds like fun if only for the novelty :) Nice reviews.

I read Three Bags Full in German (Glenkill) and loved it. Three Bags Full. Although, I think something was, literally, lost in the translation.

I finished Three Bags Full by Leonie Swann and enjoyed it. The sheep POV was very well done - not cutesy at all. I am debating whether to start The Meaning of Night by Michael Cox, an almost 700 page whopper for a local book group due in 11 days or try to sneak in a book of my own: Le ...

A novel I read last year, Three Bags Full by Leonie Swann was quite funny. It was written in German, but the setting is Ireland. The characters are all sheep. I also think that Jorge Luis Borges could be funny.

#137 FicusFan: Three Bags Full is a kick in the pants! The sheep are really terrific.

vpfluke in Book talk : Thumping Good Reads (Feb 8, 2008, 12:31pm)

I guess Three Bags Full about sheep who become detectives when their shepherd is murdered is in this category.

I would consider the Three Bags Full : a sheep detective story, as it is funny. There are medical aspects to The bonesetter's Daughter that would tend for me not to want to read it in the hospital.

I had this problem (Safari) with Three Bags full. So, when I edited, I decided that the problem was with the arrow return page button, and instead I hit a tab like Blog or About to make sure that it stayed and it did. (i.e. I figured I shouldn't go back to Adding Books or go to the catalog or ...

In the process of editing my works page of Three Bags Full, the work got expunged from my libary -- not sure how. So, I've re-entered it (the original entry was from at least 4-5 months ago).

... The Rabbi's Cat and I'm sure would like it to. Kafka on the Shore has some cat narration in it (set in Japan). And Three Bags Full is entirely narrated from the sheep point of view - written originally in German, but set in Ireland. And I did read this in 2007.

My favorite books this year were: Kafka on the Shore by Haruki Murakami translated from Japanese Three Bags Full : a sheep detective story by Leonie Swann, translated from German And I did like The Yacoubian Building.

16. Three Bags Full by Leonie Swann. A hilarious mystery with a flock of sheep detectives. What a hoot! 17. The Leopard by Giuseppe di Lampedusa. A masterpiece. There is a section describing a ball, towards the end, that is as superb a bit of writing as I have ever read.

Leonie Swann's Three Bags Full : A Sheep Detective Story is very funny, although not great literature. It tells of a flock of sheep in Ireland, including Miss Maple, who try to solve the death of their shepherd.

~ September ~ Three Bags Full by Leonie Swann - A murder mystery where the sleuths are a flock of sheep intent on solving the murder of their shepherd. Easy to read and quite entertaining. Total read to date: 33.5 books

My wife is 3/4 thru HP7, then I get it. I did read a very funny detective story, Three Bags Full in which all the detective work is done by sheep, particularly Miss Maple {sic}. Baaah!

Lisa Goldstein has written two novels under the pen name of Isabel Glass. The author of Three Bags Full: A Sheep Detective Story, writes under the pen name of Leonie Swann. I am reading it now, and it is very funny. I don't know Swann's real name, except that she is German.

I just started reading a very funny detective story, Three Bags Full : A sheep detective story, by Leonie Swann. The back cover states, "the internationally bestselling novel of crime busting sheep." Very funny and clever, even though I'm only up to page 12. My wife obtained it but she ...
