Condensation of three 1995 novels, with brief bios of the authors:

A Place Called Freedom, by Ken Follett. The author is a political story-teller, and Mack McAsh represents the active political cause and campaign, from deep in a mid-1700's Scottish coal mine to an iron collar of indentured servitude, to freedom and family in Virginia. With LIzzie Hallim, an heiress breaking out of the social mold, and "Indians".

The Horse Whisperer, by Nicholas Evans. Grace Maclean is pulling Pilgrim in a horse-trailer down a snowy country road. It loses control and horse and rider are seriously injured. The horse turns savage, and Grace retreats into silence. Her mother looks someone who might be able to heal them both.

The Apocalypse Watch - Robert Ludlum's thriller (cf. Bourne conspiracies) about Karen de Vries, a terroriste double agent. Her father is a conspirator in the neo-Nazi Brotherhood of the Watch whose take-over of three governments must be thwarted by CIA's Harry Latham and his brother Drew, sons of an archeologist. Surprise ending. Did we mention a very passionate beautiful Flemish widow?
