Loading... Prince Of Lost Placesby Kathy Hepinstall
None. Interesting theme, but not satisfying. Something is missing to make the story "round'. ( )***Spoiler*** Sad. Scary. The ending genuinely surprised me, though I should have seen it coming, really; the author played fair. I kept expecting/hoping that Marsha really was somehow sane, really did have a good reason for fleeing her husband, though her actions and reasonings were irrational - a son who would never attend school, meet people...But the folie a deux was a bit much to expect. After a tragic event at her son's school in which one child is killed, Martha kidnaps her son one night and takes him to live in a cave on the river between Texas and Mexico. Her husband hires a private detective who finds her but falls in love with her before notifying her husband. The ending held a surprise twist. I fully enjoyed this book. It has the twist structure of The Sixth Sense and The Game. The story touched on real concerns of today's world and presented them in a paradigm shifting manner. Although the twist at the end was what made this story most memorable, it also was somewhat of a let down...my hollywood-ized mind wanted to see the happy ending...but that's what makes this world so interesting...if we always got what we wanted we'd most certainly would not be challenging our realities. 3695. Prince of Lost Places, by Kathy Hepinstall (read 8 Feb 2003) I read this in "uncorrected proof for limited distribution." I've never read a Harlequin book and I wonder if this is what they are like. The central character leaves her husband and takes her son to live in a cave in Texas, where she finds a new love and then is found by her husband. I can say nothing good for this book. no reviews | add a review
