For Strat, three years have passed since the disappearance of his beloved Anna Sophia. Worse, Walk has convinced his father he is insane and they have imprisoned him in an asylum, a fate almost worse than death in the 1800s.
Oddly, this book really doesn't pick up where the last one left off which wasn't exactly frustrating, but I thought it was a bit unusual. It almost seemed as though the author was going to go in one direction at the end of the last story and then changed her mind starting the sequel. Although I enjoyed this story, the main character is still my least favorite of the cast, I really can't make myself like her. However, the storyline carries the reader along and the insights into a past time were interesting. I will certainly be reading the last two of this quartet of books. (
