For Annie 6 months have passed since she came back to her own time. Now, with her mother in Tokyo and her father still wrapped up with his mistress a school trip to New York provides her with an opportunity. Annie knows that if she can just get to the Stratton New York residence Time will cooperate and return her to her love.

For Strat, three years have passed since the disappearance of his beloved Anna Sophia. Worse, Walk has convinced his father he is insane and they have imprisoned him in an asylum, a fate almost worse than death in the 1800s.

Oddly, this book really doesn't pick up where the last one left off which wasn't exactly frustrating, but I thought it was a bit unusual. It almost seemed as though the author was going to go in one direction at the end of the last story and then changed her mind starting the sequel. Although I enjoyed this story, the main character is still my least favorite of the cast, I really can't make myself like her. However, the storyline carries the reader along and the insights into a past time were interesting. I will certainly be reading the last two of this quartet of books. ( )

Annie Lockwood exists; everyone admits it. Everyone has seen her. But only Strat insists that Miss Lockwood traveled one hundred years back in time to be with them in 1895. Now Strat is paying an enormous price: His father has declared him insane and had him locked away in an asylum. When Time calls Annie back to save Strat, she does not hesitate, even though her family is falling apart and desperately needs her. Can Annie save the boy she loves, or will her choice keep her a trespasser out of time?
