Harry realized that Dobby was the one who was staring at him in the bush. He came to warn Harry to not return to Hogwarts and said that if Harry were to return to Hogwarts very bad things were going to happen.
Dobby started crying when Harry told him to sit down, becuase he has never been treated equal by a wizard. Dobby ended up letting out a yell that was able to be heard downstairs. Harry was able to hear Uncle Vernon comming upstairs. He Told Dobby to hide in the closet. Uncle Vernon warned Harry that if he was to hear one more sound coming from upstairs, Harry would have wished he was never born.
Harry ended up finding out that the reason why he hadn't gotten his friends letters was because Dobby had stopped them from comming; so Harry wouldn't had wanted to go back to Hogwarts. He insisted to Dobby to give him his letters which Dobby had taken out from under the pillowcase. Dobby told Harry to promise him that if he were to give him his letters he won't go back to Hogwarts. But Harry didn't want to promise him anything; he just wanted his letters back. Since Harry didn't want to promise Dobby, he had no choice but to do something bad so Harry wouldn't be able to go back to Hogwatrs.

▾Book descriptions Amazon.com Amazon.com Audiobook Review (ISBN 0439064864, Hardcover)
What makes the Harry Potter series so successful? Maybe it's the fact that J.K. Rowling doesn't write children's books, she writes children's stories, more in the tradition of the Brothers Grimm than Dr. Seuss. The exploits of Harry and his friends captivate even the shortest attention spans by engaging the imagination with vivid characters and fast-moving action, instead of trying to merely catch the eye with colorful pictures or pop-up effects. Not surprisingly, the Potter tales sound wonderful read aloud, and adapt to the audiobook format extremely well. Broadway actor Jim Dale's impressive vocal range gives each character in the book its own distinctive voice--a considerable task, given the pantheon of witches, warlocks, ghosts, ghouls, dwarves, and elves that Harry encounters in his second outing. And thankfully, since the book is read unabridged, no one's favorite character is omitted. Engaging for children without being childish, the audio version of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is worthy addition to the deservedly popular series.
