I'm disappointed to see the abrupt behavior (all too often appearing rude) common to graphic novels appear in the text of this book for early elementary. The story has great potential, and if you can ignore the unpleasant behaviors it would be great. ( ) I give this book a 4/5 it is a little lengthy and they may loose focus. This story is about an older brother not wanting his younger sister to play with him. Benny and his sister Penny know it’s wrong to sneak into someone else’s backyard but their mysterious ways want to figure out what their neighbor is about! Is it a monster?—maybe a thief? They go snooping and discover a lot about themselves and even a new friend.Benny and his sister Penny know it’s wrong to sneak into someone else’s backyard but their mysterious new neighbor—or is it a monster?—may be a thief. In the heat of the moment we make assumptions that are incorrect, and we even hurt other people’s feelings! My favorite parts are when the two got all dressed up for the ship and actually act it out. This book opens up children's minds with all the little comics.
The drawings are simply lovely, beautiful to get lost in, and softly colored. They have a good sense of both action, capturing just the right moment, and character. AwardsNotable Lists
