Book description
From the book cover:
High-spirited Constance is married off young and ignorant to Ring, a well-to-do businessman. Ring loves Constance, but thinks nothing of betraying her. Tormented by the injustice of the double standard, Constance finds little solace for her pain from either her family, pastor or friends.

First published in 1885--during a period of literary and social ferment in Scandinavia--Constance Ring is still immensely readable, the passionate story of a woman who tragically collides with the repressive society in which she lives.
