Hmmm. I didn't like "The Stone's Release" as much as I did the first book in Kerry A. Jones' 'Quinguard Immortals' series. It felt a bit rushed and it seemed the author was more engaged in the mystical and cerebral than in the action and romance.

Stefan, the Healer of the Quinguard, is released from his stone statue when he hears the woman's words, "Where are you?". The only problem? She's not physically present, he just hears the words in his mind and feels a painful pull in her direction. He spends the next several months tracking her down on the other side of the world. But, at first she doesn't realize he's the one she's been calling.

Bailey is a physicist who delves in the realm of quantum physics between reality and the spiritual. After her twin disappears, she's willing to try everything, including witchcraft, to find out where she is and what happened to her. But even she could never have predicted the Adonis who appears on her doorstep saying he's there to answer her call. He can heal her, but for her to heal him she'll have to take the greatest chance of all...love.

This series has more of a fantasy/science fiction feel than most. And while the sex is there and plenty hot, it's there as part of the plot rather than gratuitous. I think if you read the first book, you'll be pleased with this second one. But if you didn't read "Cast in Stone", then this book will only confuse you. I personally will be interested in seeing where Jones' takes her series from here. ( )
