A great reference book for any SCA member to have at hand. ( )

Really good section on costuming. This book is a great starting point for reseach into how to make or do things medievally. Would not be good as a stand alone source. ( )

1992 edition (I think the current newest) Good information for the time and a GREAT beginner's resource, but badly needs updating for the current time. Things have sure changed in 15 years and research has advanced quite a bit in a great many of the areas covered. We've owned 4 copies and have given away 2 more! All but 1 of the four has been loaned away :) Excellent resource. If you can only afford 1 book in the SCA to help you get going. This is it. You can even find used copies on Amazon now. ( )

This is a great resource for EVERYONE who is just starting out in the SCA, and a great reference for long-time members. It gives great advice and guidelines, and I found it especially useful in building a canton from the ground up. It fills in those blanks of information that many people who have been in a long time assume is common knowledge. It also helps out a lot when you find yourself faced with a daunting task, such as cooking your first feast, etc. ( )
