Could not get through this. Just did not grab me. I have a feeling it is a wonderful novel and I was just not in the right mindset for it.

I had a hard time getting into this book. The main character were all too full of themselves. About two thirds of the way the story gets an interesting twist, but the end is melodramatic. I like Claire Messud, but I didn't like this book. ( )

Adult fiction. Follows 30-somethings and their parents around the NYC area; some people are more interesting than others. ( )

This novel is well written however I did find it hard to understand any of the characters. Perhaps because I am not a 30 something New Yorker. ( )

I have no idea why this was considered one of the best books of the year last year. The characters were mostly self-centered 30 something NYers who were not likable. ( )
