This book is based on a series of lectures given in the 1950s. It gives a short overview of stoicism as a whole without discussing any particular stoic thinker. I suppose this might work reasonably well as an introductory book but the presentation was a bit too contracted for my liking.

A well written and concise introduction to stoicism, giving emphasis to the work of Middle and Late Stoa. I would like a more extensive treatment of their social and political teachings.
