I am so excited to have this book and for the point of view it takes that mirrors my own beliefs. I'm sure it will be very valualble. I can watch the PBS broadcasts of Dr. Dyer every day they are aired and always learn more about making my life more valuable. I expect to be reading this book more than once for awhile and there I have no doubt that it's worth five stars. ( )

“Inspiration : Your Ultimate Calling” is a book that attempts to look inward rather than looking outside of the self for encouragement or inspiration. In the book, Dyer encourages readers to ignore the ego based, goal oriented ways of living and to seek the nonphysical self. The major focus of the book teaches that motivation is the struggle towards a set goal, while inspiration comes from within and uses an infinite power to bring abundance or peace towards us. So rather than pleasing the ego by forever running after goals, we should let the goals flow naturally towards us by looking inward, and remaining content with our current life. Granted, it does have some strong elements of new age spirituality floating around in it, however, if you can get past that, Dyer does raise some interesting questions about our chosen-ess and our purpose in life. I'm a longtime fan of Dr. Dyer. This book is about focusing on purpose and on the ways that Spirit can guide us to fulfilling our missions here. There are more application tips in this book, as there were in The Power of Intention, and I loved the list of symptoms, so to speak, of living an inspired life. ( )

Companion book to PBS fund-raising show. Clearly written for both the beginner and the advanced seeker of self and enlightenment. For Dyer, inspiration is an aspect of God (or higher power) that we all have within ourselves. As we focus on the attributes of God, we begin to see them in ourselves. This book is a combination of philosophy and spirituality that proposes to lift the self esteem of the reader. ( )
