"Pancakes, Pancakes!" is about a boy named Jack who wants his mom to make him pancakes. His mom assures him that she will make him pancakes if he goes and fetches the ingredients. ( )

This is one of my favorite books at a kid. I loved reading about how the main character makes his pancakes and following the recipe. The book takes place in an older time period so the character has to make his pancakes form scratch. He gathers the ingredients by pulling the wheat to make flour and collecting the milk. I think this is a good informational book because it showes students where some of their food comes from as well as what a recipe looks like. Some students don;’t have access to recipes at home. ( )

This book is the story of Jack, who lives on a farm and decides he wants a big pancake for breakfast. However, he has to make his pancake from scratch. he needs to collect all the ingredients before be can make the pancake. He milks the cow, gets eggs from the chicken, churns the cream into butter, and threshes the wheat. This is a great book to use in a classroom to teach about sequencing and following a recipe. ( )

Jack wanted to eat a big pancake for breakfast, and his mother said he needed to help her make it. He collected the wheat, went to the miller and had the wheat milled, gathered eggs from the hen house and milk from the cows, churned his cream into butter, and brought strawberry jam up from the cellar. His mother showed him how he should mix the ingredients together and flip the pancake, and Jack is finally able to eat his big pancake.

This book tells the story of a young boy named Jack living in a barnyard household. Jack wakes up in the morning and says he really wants a big pancake! Unfortunately he has to make this pancake from scratch. He then goes out to mill the wheat for flour, feed the chickens for eggs, milk a cow for milk and churn some butter. Finally Jacks mother helps him make his pancake step by step. He then enjoys his delicious pancake with strawberry jam. The illustrations throughout this story were very colorful and filled with contrasting elements of design. I think this book could be very useful to read within the classroom. It gives students a chance to step back and try to understand d how exactly our food might be made. I think any young student would find this story very interesting and intriguing. ( )

The barnyard rooster crows and Jack wakes up -- hungry, of course! What does he want for breakfast? A big pancake! But first, Jack's mother needs flour from the mill, an egg from the black hen, milk from the spotted cow, butter churned from fresh cream, and firewood for the stove. Will Jack ever get his pancake?
