10. #1 the longest book I've listened to is Edmund Morris' The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt. John Lee's narration was fantastic and helped me through some of the minutia of the story. Had I attmepted to read this book, I would not have gotten very far.

I was ready to start Theodore Rex when a new book at the library caught my eye, The Real Wizard of Oz: The Life and Times of L. Frank Baum.
So far it has been incredible engaging (and I'm ... ... very interdisciplinary (science, history, etc.) and that's something I very much enjoy. After that it's back to TR with Theodore Rex. The reading will slow a bit next week though as I find myself back in the classroom again with my students. I loved the John Adams book too! Next year I'm planning on reading Theodore Rex. >71 Thanks for that recommendation...got it on the old radar screen. I'm going to try Theodore Rex in another book read or two.
It's interesting did your know TR went blind in his left eye...from what I remember he was sparing (Boxing) in the White House. The public at the time never knew ... ...
The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt is one of the absolutely *best* books I've ever read. Unfortunately, I didn't care for Theodore Rex as much.
If you don't want to wait another 20 years for Edmund Morris to finish the cycle (with TR's post-presidency life), try Patricia O'Toole's W ... ... ers

I have read quite a few presidential bios and The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt is one of my favorites. The 2nd volume Theodore Rex was good also, just not as fascinating. ... all time favorites.

Then We Came to the End ... ... Rise of Theodore Roosevelt is one of the best biographies I have *ever* read. Unfortunately, I didn't feel that his Theodore Rex measured up to the high standard he set with Rise... It's not a bad biography; I was just expecting more.
If you don't want to wait for Morris to come out ... ... Millard (post-presidency), then Mornings on Horseback by David McCulloch (pre-presidency) and now, I've just started Edmund Morris' Theodore Rex (presidency). ... early part of the last millenium.
Your library has the 2nd installment of the Edmund Morris bio of Teddy Roosevelt, Theodore Rex. The initial volume, The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt is worthwhile.
