I'm not a big fan of cozies but I love these books. Didn't know whodunnit til it was revealed. ( )

This book wasn’t as strong as earlier books in the series in terms of humor and mystery but it did have some nice character development for Bill

For a brief moment, he wondered if he even liked Maddie, but when she crossed her legs in their sheer black stockings, lust took over and rationalized all his feelings back into romance.

Also in character development, we learn a bit more about Agatha’s hard upbringing and her struggles to improve her lot in life.

While I might not have thought it was as funny as earlier novels it still had it great moments when Agatha fantasizes and James acts clueless.
He would stretch his arms up to her and she would drop down into them, her eyes closed, and she would whisper, "James, oh James."
"Help!" she called softly. She dropped down the other side of the fence, stumbled and landed face-down in a flowerbed. She got to her feet and glared. James, totally oblivious to the romantic script she had written for him, was unlocking the kitchen door.

A light, amusing series to devour. Opinionated, outspoken & faulted Agatha is about to marry when her long gone first husband materialises. Agatha once again plays detective while trying to make amends to her next-door boyfriend. Listened to this with Penelope Keith playing the perfect Agatha. Irreverent & cosy murder-mystery series. ( )

My only problem with this series is that they're so easy to read and enjoyable that I finish them far too quickly! There are many things that surprise me: on some levels Agatha isn't particularly likable but I care about here; I'm surprised she'd have sex before marriage; I'm surprised she smokes; and I'm constantly surprised how unpleasant some of the characters are in this cosy, Cotswold village of Carsley.
