I'm not going to lie, the only reason I borrowed this was because Shia Labeouf was attached to the upcoming movie adaptation and he said this was his favorite comic book (he has since detached ... Well, in the first issue of Y: The Last Man, there is a panel where "Houston, Houston, do you read?" is coming over the radio at Johnson Space Center, where all the male employees lie dead. Houston, Houston, Do You Read? is a James Tiptree, Jr. story with a similar plague-kills-all-men ... 5 - That's an easy one - it's y. (teehee! That touchstones to one of my favourite comics). Front rounded vowels are fun. I like the Danish vowels. There are so many of them! ... fans and the first-time readers will all find something good.

We love y: the last man in my house (us, 22 year old daughter, 18 year old son). I agree the last trade was disappointing; jumbled and difficult to follow. I found reading it a couple of more times helped, but I admit I didn't convince the rest of my family, who were disappointed, too. does anyone else read y: the last man by brian k vaughan? i really loved the series until the last trade came out. disappointment city. opinions? ... the basic premise of the book worked, bizarre though it sometimes was- I just didn't think it was funny.

Take Y: The Last Man. I've had the final trade on pre-order forever and I've loved the series. At the same time, there have been times where I've felt like, "okay, I get it ... #28
Oooh Y The Last Man and Fables two excellent choices that would translate to movies really well. I think they could probably film the Fables graphic novel Legends in Exile without too many changes.

I've enjoyed the Y: The Last Man series, The Rabbi's Cat and Deogratias: A Tale of Rwanda (although this tale is one that is hard to "enjoy"). ... ***1/2

Fables isn't a romance either, but it does have a very nice love story running throughout. Same with Y: The Last Man.

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone knows if the series or any of the individual issues have won any awards? I'm currently obsessed with Brian K. Vaughan's Y - The Last Man graphic novel series. Even if you're not into "comics", this one's well worth picking up. ... I can't think of a single mainstream American comic that I would describe as "classic adventure." Even "road stories" like Y: The Last Man and "police procedurals" like Fell by Warren Ellis have something supernatural about ... ... post apocolytic events. Not talking about X-men apocolypse and that type of thing. More interested in graphic novels like Y-The last man by Brian K Vaughan ... superhero fare, you can't beat Watchmen.
As for series, Preacher held my interest for a long time, and Fables and Y: The Last Man are a feast.
For the more literary type, I HIGHLY recommend Fun Home by Alison Bechdel. (It got me to reread Ulysses!
Blankets is a touching ... ... are a lot of comics/graphic novels these days that are a lot like drawn tv-shows, or movies... I'm thinking of things like Y the Last Man here, and perhaps if a bigger audience could be found, then more of these sorts of visual stories could find the light of day?

I really like a lot of Brian K. Vaughan's other work (Runaways, Y the Last Man), but I haven't heard much about Pride of Baghdad. Has anyone read it? Should I keep a box of tissues handy? ... Barker book I've read, and I'm quite enjoying it so far (I'm about a 3rd of the way in). Also, I'm just about to read Y the last Man the first in a series of graphic novels by Brian K. Vaughan, which should be good. I'll give you a Y:
Y: The Last Man graphic novel by Brian K. Vaughn. Wonderful: it's funny, insightful, and takes a good look at society, sex roles, stereotypes, etc. Pick up the first volume; you'll be hooked. ... very well with these books.
Pride of Baghdad - another graphic novel that I really enjoyed, this one by Mr Brian K. "Y the Last Man" Vaughan - all about a small pride of lions that escapes from the zoo in war-torn Baghdad, and the fleeting beauty of freedom..

I haven't read the more recent Jack McDevitt yet except for a collection published locally, but generally like him too, the Hutchins books, etc. I've heard a lot of good things about Y: The Last Man - I guess I'd better start at volume one and work my way up :-)
Oh, and I've forgotten about Fables: 1001 Nights of Snowfall - thanks for reminding me Miss_bookworm... miss_bookworm: Those Y:The Last Man books ... those are the graphic novels in which there's only one man left alive in a world full of women, right? How are they? I've just started getting into graphic novels and was pretty curious about those ... I recently finished The walking dead Vol. 4: The ... Yes, I'm looking forward to Pride of Baghdad as well, but I have to say that although I've been following both Y: The Last Man and Ex Machina since early on, they've gotten a little rote lately, particularly Y.
