Too cute, too annoying, and too similar to the UNDEAD series by MaryJanice Davidson. If you like cute, fluffy vampire reads with vain, self-centered heroines then you'll undoubtedly love this book. I won't be reading any others in the series myself. ( )

Lil Marchette is your "new" vampire, she's not into wearing black, likes shoes and modern clothes, and is ditzy. When given a choice between joining the family copy-shop and finding a new career she decides that a new career is good, the new career she decides on is matchmaking, for both the undead and the live.

In this world there are two kinds of undead, the born undead and the made undead, there's a real class struggle between the two and she's a born undead so when she meets with bounty hunter Ty Bonner who is made and who she's very attracted to there's tension. Add in a serial killer and you've got a pretty typical vampire romance.

And it is pretty typical, and pretty mindless, and not too bad but nothing I'd rave about. ( )

I enjoyed this book. There was nothing serious about it. There was a little mystery, a little romance and a lot of humor. A perfect, light read. I can't wait to read the next book in the series! ( )

So the narrator is a little bit too much of a Valley Girl, despite aristocratic French roots. So she talks obsessively about designer goods. (Which I'm not entirely opposed to, by the way.) Still, I found myself interested in the book. It puts a slightly different twist on the whole vampire lore while still being pretty funny. Honestly, the storytelling style kind of reminds me of the Jen Lancaster books --- which you must read if you haven't.All in all, the book can be a little annoying at times but it's a quick and entertaining read with a pretty funny voice to tell the story of a modernized vampire just trying to start her own dating service. This is one of those quirky little series that is quick and fun to read. There’s plenty of humor, a vampire that loves designer clothes, and interesting plot twists that are uncomplicated. I’m not really sure if that’s the word I should use, but this series is a lot of fun. It has a distinction between vampires that were born and vampires that were made (aka bitten and turned). The series centers on Lil Marchette, who is a born vampire who is considered the outcast of the family. She refuses to join the family business (Moe’s Copy Center) and begins her own Dead End Dating matchmaking service for the lonely vampires out there. She ends up adding to her clientèle (weres and humans), but along the way, she meets up with a sexy made vampire bounty hunter who she can’t keep off her mind. In each novel, Lil is thrown into various different situations that leave her to figure out what she can do to get her out of it. Some of the problems involve her grandbaby-lusting mother, trying to find dates for the hopeless, and overcoming an attraction to a certain made vampire. If you’re looking for something quick and fun, and you’re a fan of the Betsy Taylor series by MaryJanice Davidson, then you should definitely take a look at these novels.

Book description

Amazon.com Product Description (ISBN 0345492161, Mass Market Paperback)

BITING IS SO LAST SEASON.

A vivacious vampire with a flair for accessorizing, Lil Marchette is unlike most of her kind. She prefers lively shades of pink to dismal black (soo not her color), plus she’s a hopeless romantic. In need of a steady paycheck to support a compulsive cosmetics habit, Lil starts Dead End Dating (DED), a Manhattan-based matchmaking service that helps smart, sophisticated singles like herself find eternity mates–and may even help her stake a claim to her very own Count Right!

When Lil meets geeky vampire Francis Deville, she knows he’s the perfect first client. If she can hook up Francis–after a little revamping, of course–she will prove her skills to the vampire community and turn DED into the hottest dating service in the Big Apple. But just as her business takes off, Lil meets the (literally) drop-dead gorgeous bounty hunter Ty Bonner, who is hot on the chase of a serial killer. Instantly drawn to the luscious vamp stud, Lil really wants a taste. But as a made vampire, Ty can’t procreate–and Lil will settle for nothing less. Luckily, between “vampifying” Francis and helping Ty solve his murder mystery, Lil has no time for silly romantic entanglements . . . even if Ty is all that and a Bloody Mary chaser!
