A shifting, poetic, vicious travel tale, twin narratives of travelling musicians, their stories overlapping but with only vaguely similar details, one revealing visions as lurid as they are unsavoury, the other mixing truth with deliberate lies. Both are funny in very different ways. There are cameos by a host of pop culture icons as you've never seen them before and never will again. Iconoclasm never tasted so dirty, yet behind the self-conscious charades, memorable fart lines (no kidding) and cynical outbursts there are passages that affect, confront and inspire. Not for everyone, so take my enthusiasm with a caveat particularly if you are a sensitive reader, but I've had a blast with it on repeat reads. ( )

Book description

Amazon.com Product Description (ISBN 0140261184, Paperback)

Having exhausted (and been exhausted by) the young man's religion of rock and roll, the authors undertake an epic journey to the North Pole to sacrifice an icon of Elvis Presley. Two very different accounts of their journey clash and mesh as the pilgrims venture forth into the frozen wastes at the top of the world.

Bill Drummond and Mark Manning were involved with two of pop music's most esoteric creations: Zodiac Mindwarp and the KLF.
