... fall into the fantasy/mystery catagory.
A few others I've read and enjoyed that seemed like mysteries are the Aisling Grey books by Katie MacAlister, Magic Lost, Trouble Found by Lisa Shearin, The Blood Books by Tanya Huff and Wicked Gentlemen by Ginn Hale. Ho ... ... others are good and funny.
If yoou don't mind a dose of chick-lot verging on romance in your fantasy, I'd recommend the Aisling Grey, Guardian series by Katie MacAlister, and Betsy the Queen series by MaryJanice Davidson ...
Other than that, I like:
Skinne Legs and All by Tom Robbins
Undead series by MaryJanice Davidson
The first Aisling Grey books by Katie MacALister
Tim Dorseys Serge Storm books are over the top, and hysterically funny.
Tanya Huff's Keeper series 4. You Slay Me by Katie MacAlister
5. Fire Me Up by Katie MacAlister ... (Mercy Thompson), necromancers (Anita Blake, Dante Valentine), guardians of some sort (Summon the Keeper, Aisling Grey, Meredith Gentry, The Walker Papers, Weather Warden), psychics (Sookie Stackhouse).... Commen for them are that they - due to their differences - get ... ... es
Trick My Truck But Don't Mess With My Heart by LuAnn McLane (don't know why it's not recognizing it!)
You Slay Me
Fire Me Up
... series
These are a bit more on the funny side:
MaryJanice Davidson - Queen Betsy series
Katie MacAlister - Aisling grey series
A la Jim Butcher:
Simon R. Green - Nightside series
Mike Carey - The Devil You Know - I've only read the first of the series
Mark ... 181) Halloweenland by Al Sarrontonio
182) Fire Me Up by Katie MacAlister
183) Marrow by Tiffanie Darke
184) Statements by Amy Borkowsky ... the things that go bump in the night)
Charlaine Harris Sookie Stackhouse series
Fun stuff:
Katie MacAlister Aisling Grey, Guardian series (very chick-lit guardian bonded to a dragon, and trying to get apprenticed, female 1. person pov)
MaryJanice Davidson Queen Betsy ... I haven't actually brought them into my home yet but at lunch today I found Fire Me Up by Katie MacAlister which arrived at my P.O. Box via BookMooch.
I also picked up 2 YA novels on the 95 cent clearance table at the book store for myself, Summer of My German Soldier by Bette Greene ... Just finished You Slay Me Fire Me Up,Light My Fire byKatie MacAlister and sorry if I'm starting to sound like a broken record but I don't know why these are called romances. They are fun reads I cracked up when the demon/dog spoke pig latin. I liked the books I just don't think they're ... ... comes Even Vampires Get the Blues and The Last of the Red-Hot Vampires.
The Aisling Grey series goes You Slay Me, Fire Me Up, and Light My Fire (I'm pretty sure).
The rest of them are stand-alones, so it doesn't really matter what order you read them in. But Improper English is ... ... Thanks for your help!
I have (but not read yet):
Improper English
Hard Day's Knight
Men in Kilts
Fire Me Up
You Slay Me
Just One Sip
The Corset Diaries
The Trouble With Harry
Even Vampires Get the Blues
Blow Me Down
Light My Fire
I have read:
... ... here: You Slay Me is one of my faves by her--so far, that is, since I've only read two of her books: the above one and Fire Me Up. cj-couldn't stop myself and just had to finish Fire Me Up last night. I loved it even more than the first Aisling Grey book! I'm ordering the third off amazon tonight with my $25.00 gift cert because there are just too many holds on the new one at the library (and there is my pesky no more ... DL- take your time with Fire Me Up. I finished all three books and now have to wait for the next one. It looks like she only writes one (Aisling Grey) a year. They are definitely a guilty pleasure of mine too. Jim rocks! I want my own doggie demon. : ) I finished The Blue Girl by Charles de Lint which is an urban fantasy story. Now I'm on to Fire Me Up which is the second Aisling Grey, guardian, romance novel by Katie MacAlister. I'm so excited to read this because I really enjoyed the first Aisling Grey book sooo much!
