This picks up right where the first left off. Rachel is feeling the wrath of the in crowd after ruining the fashion show in the first book. Her family goes to an isolated cabin for spring break where their mom finally relents and allows her younger sister to start experimenting with her magic which leads to disastrous and hilarious results. First Miri tries to save cows from a beef farm and they end up in the school gym. She makes a love spell for Rachel which kind of backfires in that it works on the older brother, Will, as opposed to the object of her real affection Raf. Rachel goes with the ruse however due to the fact that she's now back in with the in crowd and the seniors. Miri is using her powers to try and save the world, but learns that everything comes with a consequence. Mom has started using her powers again thanks to Rachel's suggestion as well as dating with unusual results. Per the normal YA book everything turns out good in the end and it appears that Rachel may be coming into powers of her own. Rachel is being ostracized at school because of what happened at the Fashion Show. At first she tries to keep it a secret b/c Miri is obsessing about saving the world and her mother is obessing with dating and how magic can help her with dating. Once Miri finds out about Rachel's situation, she tries to cast a love spell so that Rachel and Raf can try and make a go of things again. Unfortunately the spell backfires and Rachel ends up with someone else. Can Rachel get Miri and her mom to see the light and settle down before the consequences of all this magic get out of control? I love Ariadne Meyers narrating on this book. There were still points where Rachel, Miri and their mother were so outrageous that I felt a little bit anxious, but less so then in the third book. Rachel definitely felt more mature in this book, but only just barely. She is still a little bit crazy and she still constantly makes me laugh with her nutty behavior. Can't wait to listen to the next two. Rachel is being ostracized at school because of what happened at the Fashion Show.
