I consider myself as a consistent Sandra Brown fan. However, this book was such a disappointment.
None of the characters were believable or relatable. Yasmine as a character was particularly obnoxious. Reading her whole storyline simply felt as if i was reading a pure porn book.
Her mood swings, her love affair. Nothing was good.
Another thing I particularly didn't like was when Alexis wife finds out about the affair, her only apparent objection was that Yasmine was black.
Not an enjoyable read at all ( )

Claire Laurent runs a successful lingerie shop called, French Silk, in New Orleans. Unfortunately it has earned the complete attention of the local evangelist, Jackson Wilde, who has nothing but scathing remarks to make about her lingerie shop. This has caused tension and bad publicity for Claire’s business since his campaign is aimed at shutting her down. Then one day, the preacher is found murdered and while Jack Wilde may have had many enemies, the list dwindles down to Claire being at the top of the list of suspects who has a viable motive.

District Attorney, Robert Cassidy takes on the case. The sparks fly when Cassidy and Claire meet for the first time in her lingerie shop. The chemistry between them is so thick at times you could cut it with a knife. Claire seems to have an airtight alibi but Cassidy, who wants to believe her because he’s attracted her, keeps finding evidence to the contrary. The case eventually becomes a conflict of interest that is briefly mentioned because Cassidy is attracted to the suspect. Therefore objectivity becomes a big problem for solving the case. ( )

Very disappointing. I try not to give really bad reviews. But I have nothing positive to say. Bad character development, predictable plot, really nothing redeeming to say. I doubt I'll read another book by this author. ( )

Typical early contemporary Brown. The characters make or break her books. ( )

French Silk by Sandra Brown
Claire grew up poor and removed from her mothers house. She now with a friend runs a lingerie shop in New Orleans and does
even better with a mail order catalog. There is a stumbling block-the minister, Jackson Wilde who thinks her work is porn and tries to get her shut down.
When he is found dead from his wife, who had spent the previous night with the stepson going over their music, she is accused of his murder as her business name is on the minister's hit list of places to shut down.
There are very fiery hot steamy sex scenes that go along with the story line and as you discover other clues to help solve this murder.
Cassidy is the detective in charge and he's falling for her. Just when you think you know the outcome things change and you think it possibly can't be who it is! ( )
