I think this book is quite good but its not the best book ever. It is something i would recomend but not all would enjoy it.If you like ghost and stories where you dont know whats happening til the end see this girl moves in and her care taker is a really mean old lady. The girl finds a doll in the garden she has to find out why its there and this ghost girl. After all sh finds out the old lady could be a friend.Read the book to find out why the old kady has to do with more of the story than you think. Pretty good ghosty story about a lonely girl and a mean old lady. Abrupt turnaround at the end, though, is a bit tidy. ( )

*spoilers!*

Holy CRAP I was NOT expecting this book to be so good!! And I'm really not even sure why, but for some reason I thought it would be dull. ..... I was definitely mistaken. Big time.

I don't think this is a *scary* ghost story, exactly.... not the kind that would keep me awake at night, anyway. But it's certainly *spooky* and very, very intriguing. The ghost girl from the front cover doesn't make her first appearance until almost halfway through the book, but the ghostly cat and the beautiful doll that holds some kidn of mystery, they pulled me into the story long before the ghost girl appeared.

I knew that Miss Cooper would end up having something to do with the whole thing, but I was surprised with her actual relation to it all.... And OMG the ending was so SAD!!! I bawled, not just cried but seriously bawled. Going back to see Louisa and give her the doll back, and then the scene at the gravesite.... Wow. WOW. ( )

I have to disagree with the previous review that states this book is not spooky or creepy. I read this book at least 10 years ago, and I still remember being freaked out by it. Granted, it probably has a lot to do with how old you are when you read it, and maybe I was more easily scared than other kids, but this book definitely kept me up at night. ( )
