This book started off very slow, but I still enjoyed it. Upfield took you on many roundabout twists and turns, but the story still made perfect sense. The prologue stated that this was written as a serial in a newspaper so the roundabout turns makes perfect sense. My favorite character was Tom Pink. He was not your typical hero, but he was likeable nonetheless. I found myself rooting for him as the underdog. A truly enjoyable story.
