My Review: Another favorite from my childhood. Suess in general is fantastic, his art is fun and his playful rhymes echo through many years of my youth. I remember fondly flipping through his books even in high school. The Foot Book in particular plays with opposites and is wonderful for kids. My niece's review: Tasty. Literally, as the cardboard pages spent most of their time in her mouth. This is a book cald the foot book. And it has alot of rimeing words in it.And it is a funny book.I like this book because it is funny. A Dr. Seuss classic for 3-5 year olds which celebrates feet! It could be read when teaching right and left to younger kids, and other opposites like day and night. Super book! Within the pages of this book, the reader gets to enjoy the rhyming words that teaches the logic behind feet, and walking. It uses colors to show the differnce in the many feet of the world:) The Foot Book is a classic Dr. Seuss poetry book. This book is about feet. It talks about how many feet you meet, and what all your feet go through. It goes through all different kinds of people and their feet. The book is very catchy for young children. It rhymes and has a lot of color. I would always have Dr. Seuss books in my classroom. One activity you could do in the classroom is have the children dip their feet in paint and put their footprints on a sheet of paper to take home. You could have them do all different colors and let them be creative and put their feet in all different ways to make different feet. Another activity you could do would be to have different pictures of feet cute out one could be fireman boots, one could be cowboy boots, and one could be snow boots and so on, then the children could match the boots with the picture it goes with, the fireman, the cowboy and the eskimo. Summary: This Dr. Suess book is about feet. It talks about all the different types of feet, left foot, right foot, small and little feet. Personal Reaction: I like this book it has a lot of ryhming. Along with catchy rhymes, the book has creative and interesting pictures that are sure to capture any child's attention. from notecard for class in 2004: Rating: 2 (out of a 3 star system?) Summary: Rather boring for a Dr. Seuss book I must say, but I hold them up to high standards. It is your typical Dr. Seuss book, about all kinds of feet. RL: 0.6; IL: LG This book would be appropriate for pre-k through the first grade. There are very few words in the book and the words foot, feet, left and right are repeated numerous times throughout the story. Younger children should be able to follow a long. Also their are colorful and silly pictures that they may like. The book describes all the different kinds of feet and how everyone has different ones. Uses in the classroom: -I would have children trace their feet on a piece of paper and then decorate it. Then I would hang up the pictures all around the room so that children can see that not one will look the same. Under the pictures I would have them write what kind of feet they have. They can either think of their own description or use one from the book. -I would show children a collection of different feet (baby, horse, boy, girl, duck). -No Award -pre-k-1st -The foot book is about how many feet you see when you walk around and it also shows you that there are different types of feet. -this book is a great way to teach children which foot is your left foot and which foot is your right foot. -you can count how many feet there are in the classroom. -You also could have a huge poster bored and paint each kids feet and have them step on the poster - Fantastic story for kids to follow. Dr. Seuss gives the reader a sense of imagination as he describes all of the different types of feet there are. His style of rhyming, paired with vibrant illustrations teach different things including grammar. Prepositions, adjectives, and pronouns are all used.
