This book is another read aloud that shows the power of imagination. In this story Albie is a bit hesitant to join the swim team. He overcomes his fears by imagining he is a lifegaurd in his own backyard. He saves several "people" from drowning and is a successfull lifegaurd. The next summer he is ready to join the swim team. This could be a good lead in book for a swim unit or physical education unit, or lead to a discussion about overcoming fear.
