This is the somewhat strange story of a man who cures writer's block by siphoning off the thoughts of his dead mentor's brain to write a 'fictional autobiography'. It's original and fairly witty, particularly the dead-pan handling of the surreal premise, and Rubens just about holds together the parallel plots of the autobiography and the autobiographer's life. However, the ending is predictable and autobiographer's life distinctly less involving than the story he is writing. ( )
