Good luck!
The Thief by Megan Whalen Turner. He doesn't lie exactly, but he sure does keep some vital information to himself!
I haven't read Liar, but I have read books with an unreliable narrator. The Thief comes to mind right off the top of my head. Some adult books that come to mind are The Remains of the Day and The Murder of Roger Ackroyd. These are all very different, but they share the fact that the ...
I'd recommend The Thief by Megan Whalen Turner, and its sequels Queen of Attolia and King of Attolia (and, coming out next spring, A Conspiracy of Kings -- I'm so excited about that!). I do recommend them to a lot of people in general, and I also glanced at your library and profile (is ...

I finished The Thief this weekend and it was great. I think Foggi mentioned it a while back and I'm just getting around to it. But better late than never! I really enjoyed it. It will definitely be one I reread often.

I just started reading The Thief , one of the books recommended to me by LTer's at our meet-up. I like it so far. The city it starts out in reminds me of the city in The Horse and His Boy.
I love The Thief and its two sequels The Queen of Attolia and The King of Attolia. I also thought I am the Messenger was a must read.
#42 -- Did she check? Because The Thief won a Newbery honor, and the next book in its series is coming out this winter. (I know it's not what your patron was looking for . . . I'm just saying.) It seems like there are a lot of popular children's and YA books with "thief" in the title right now ...

Thanks for the recommendation for The Thief . I've seen it on some threads and thought it looked interesting, so I'm glad to know it is really good.
I see that the first Percy Jackson book is The Lightning Thief, which also sounds good. And no wonder ...
... several people are doing a fairy tales/myths/legends category - I'm among them too! :) Also, re #18, I totally agree that The Thief and sequels are excellent books!
For your myth category, I enjoyed The Thief . It was really, really good. I also am a big fan of the Percy Jackson series. And for King Arthur, if you haven't ever read the original Gawain and the Green Knight, it is worth reading. It's not easy, but I really loved it once I got going.

I'm rereading The Thief -- I wanted something that I knew would be good, after finishing The Last Olympian, and I know the Attolia series can hold its own. I also got Prisoner of Azkaban to listen to while I drive.
I finished The Thief by Megan Whalen Turner (good but not great, I have trouble finding books that don't do more than narrate an adventure story "great"). I'd be interested in reading the sequels to see how they compare.
I'm starting The Monk by Matthew Lewis.
You should try the Attolia books by Megan Whalen Turner. They are, in order, The Thief , The Queen of Attolia, and The King of Attolia. It's fantasy with great writing and unforgettable characters. The only problem is that we fans are eagerly awaiting the fourth book, and it's taking FOREVE ...

Yes, I know I already read books 35-37 this year. I just liked them that much :)
The Attolia series by Megan Whalen Turner, starting with the thief has a Greek feel to it, with some nicely busy-body gods, plenty of action, and a great romance in the later books in the series.

... and most of them have written trilogies, or "connected" works at the very least -- Kay, McKillip, Tolkien, deLint, Cooper. The Thief and its sequels are also high on my list. I don't think anyone has mentioned the Damiano trilogy; any other MacAvoy fans out there?
Wizard Howl, of Howl's Moving Castle, and Eugenides, from Megan Whalen Turner's series of The Thief , The Queen of Attolia and The King of Attolia (and I do hope she writes a fourth). Guess I have a soft spot for scapegraces.
For once I've actually read some YA! I love summer. I read The Thief by Megan Whalen Turner and In the Coils of the Snake, the third book in the Hollow Kingdom trilogy by Clare B Dunkle. I liked the latter more than the former; I felt like in The Thief the author had to try too hard to ...

12. The Thief by Megan Whalen Turner. I was sort of disappointed by this book, though I've heard that the next two are much better. It took me surprisingly long to read, considering that it's a children's book, because the first half wasn't engaging enough. There was a great twist towards the ...

Right now I'm finishing up Megan Whalen Turner's The Thief (which actually is as good as everybody says it is), and going to start my ER copy of The 19th Wife.
Oh, I also love The Thief by Megan Whalen Turner -- also the other two books in the series, The Queen of Attolia and The King of Attolia.
Megan Whalen Turner's Attolia books are amazing. They are, in order, The Thief , The Queen of Attolia, and The King of Attolia. It's very important you read them in that order or you will miss a very cool twist. I never get tired of rereading these books, and I am dying for the fourth to come ...

The Attolia series by Megan Whalen Turner, starting with The Thief are my favourites. The writing is quite spare and simple, but the character of Eugenides is just so devious!
