I enjoyed reading The Devil and Miss Prym. Like most of Paul Coelho's books I found this book a very easy read. I enjoy the lightness of touch that Paul Coehlo uses in most of his books. And like his other book, The Devil and Miss Prym stayed on my mind after I finished it, giving me food for thought. ( )I enjoyed this more than By The River Piedra but less than Veronika Decides to Die, the other two books in the 'And on the Seventh Day' trilogy. Set up like all his books with a moral/spiritual message, the unfolding of the dilemmas faced by the inhabitants of Viscos was interesting and the ending apt. This is way better than the Alchemist, which I hated. It's very message oriented, but it's interesting and well written and I just really liked it. Although the ending left me a bit cold. Aunque la historia no se me hace del todo fabulosa, no puedo negar que el mensaje que me ha dejado es de los mejores pues muestra que el bien y el mal siempre estaran librando la eterna batalla de gobernar el corazon del hombre. Ser dueño de si. Translated into Persian, rank 52/1001 no reviews | add a review
Amazon.com Product Description (ISBN 0060527994, Hardcover)A community devoured by greed, cowardice, and fear. A man persecuted by the ghosts of his painful past. A young woman searching for happiness. In one eventful week, each will face questions of life, death, and power, and each will choose a path. Will they choose good or evil? In the remote village of Viscos -- a village too small to be on any map, a place where time seems to stand still -- a stranger arrives, carrying with him a backpack containing a notebook and eleven gold bars. He comes searching for the answer to a question that torments him: Are human beings, in essence, good or evil? In welcoming the mysterious foreigner, the whole village becomes an accomplice to his sophisticated plot, which will forever mark their lives. Paulo Coelho's stunning novel explores the timeless struggle between good and evil, and brings to our everyday dilemmas fresh perspective: incentive to master the fear that prevents us from following our dreams, from being different, from truly living. The Devil and Miss Prym is a story charged with emotion, in which the integrity of being human meets a terrifying test.
