A very interesting take on the gender-bender theme, as it is actually related to real life and not some magical transformation. Main character is a young boy who finds out that he is chromosomaly female and, unhappy with his life, decides to start over as a girl. While this is supposed to be a comedy, it deals with a lot of important issues around gender changes, like having to relearn how to walk, talk, etc. There is also an attempted rape (be warned) that deals very eloquently with the main character becoming aware of his former male privilege around sexual assault. A really surprising find. ( )
