From what I can tell from the three novels I've now read by Boyd, he is consistently solid. None of them would qualify for my book of the year but they are all very readable and interesting. As Boyd likes to work in different genres, this is more of an ... Auschwitz and After by Charlotte Delbo

#14 I love William Boyd, have you read Brazzaville Beach? That's my favourite of his. Wouldn't call it funny but would call it an absolutely absorbing, gripping book. 31. Brazzaville Beach by William Boyd
I bought this book last year when it was hyped on LT. I only couldn't remember why, but it brought high expectations for this read. Partly these came through, as I liked the way the book was set up and it was a good read. On the other hand, it couldn't ... Just finished Brazzaville beach by William Boyd, which I kind of liked (still thinking about what I should think of it).
Later today I will start Lijmen / Het been by Willem Elsschot. This is a re-read of a book I liked some 8 years ago. I've bought some other books by this author ... I'm about to start Brazzaville Beach by William Boyd. Bought it because the rumours about it on LT somewhere last year. Actuallly, I think it's the first book I bought because of LT (or: where it all went wrong).
Next to that I'm reading De kleur van het duister by Frank Thilliez, a ... ... in edizioni assai datate e/o uscite con una tiratura infima. Another (and more recent) nice spy-novel is William Boyd's Restless, which portrays an unforgettable IIWW and Cold War heroine. Just received Nine stories by J.D. Salinger and Brazzaville beach by William Boyd by mail. The last one was an LT recommendation. I know that I know that and I am not at home to check it. That's so familiar.

An Ice-Cream War by William Boyd
The Tale of the 1002nd Night by Joseph Roth
The Charlotte Perkins Gilman Reader by Charlotte Perkins Gilman

The Golden Bird: Two Orkney S ... ... max. If you're unfamiliar with Boyd (a crying shame!), then I especially recommend his wonderful novels Any Human Heart, Brazzaville Beach, or A Good Man in Africa, and you may thank me later, of course, but whatever you do, don't miss Restless, because it's nothing short of dynamite. I meant to add that 1990's JTB winner Brazzaville Beach by William Boyd is a cracking read.
