This book was a disappointment from start to finish. It sounded as if it was going to be a great read, but it was so poorly executed it failed miserably. ( )

Soooo disappointing. The description / premise sounded so promising, I was really looking forward to reading this book. The main character, Dora, was not very likable. Actually most of the characters came across as just plain foolish. It was a good idea, just very poorly executed. ( )

I got this as part of the ER program, and probably wouldn't have bought this on my own. It was an okay read for a quiet day, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. ( )

This is a story of survival from the Lusitania. A story about a conspiracy about why the Lusitania was torpedoed and the aftereffects of that, particularly on one person, Dora, who is haunted by some strange people in both England and America.

Dora was a bit of a brat throughout and didn't appear to learn from her mistakes but compounded them, not offering any support to the men in her life fighting on the front.

It didn't quite grasp me but wasn't a bad read. ( )

I wasn't quite sure what to expect from reading this book and as it turns out, my first opinion was the right one. The story is about Dora who tries to find out why the Lusitania was sunk during the first world war. It was an interesting plot but I feel the authors didn't develop it enough. Some of the writing appeared very simplistic and to be quite honest I still have no idea what age group this is aimed at. I believe that this may be a series so, if it is to be successful I think the authors really need to sit down and develop both their storylines & character profiles in more depth. ( )

All men dream: but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dream with open eyes, to make it possible . . .

Amazon.com Product Description (ISBN 0979890438, Paperback)

"The ship's prow pointed down toward the deep. It looked as if the ship's nose would hit the sea bed hundreds of feet below. Green waters swallowed the decks, devouring the remaining passengers who had been clinging to her to the last second. With an audible groan the ship turned onto its starboard side and disappeared. Dear, God! Dora thought. It couldn't have been more than a few minutes since I left the engine room after the first explosion sounded and rattled the decks . . . Fifteen or at most twenty . . . no more . . ." What was behind the second explosion that finally sank the Lusitania? Dora is about to find out in a tale that spans the First World War from May 1, 1915 to the bitter end in Paris in 1919. Her experiences take her from the Irish Sea to the battlefields of Gallipoli to the Arab Revolt of Lawrence of Arabia and span three continents. Dora must find her own hard Won Peace. Those Who Dream By Day is the first of a series. The Second Volume, The Seven-Pillared House, will soon be available from Cheops Books.
