I simply hated this book, I could not get past the first chapter. Georgina's character was not believable and the language was a real turn off. Normally I love Virginia Henley's books but this one was a true disappointment.

I have enjoyed Virginia Henley's books for years. She's got a talent for historical steamy romance that I appreciate- especially when I am in the mood for losing myself in a good historical romance. "The Decadent Duke" is a story about Lady Georgina Gordon- the youngest of the Gordon sisters and John Russell the younger brother of the Duke of Bedford. Lady Georgina is young and doesn't want to marry for a title, she wants love. Her aggressive mother has other ideas and plots to get her a Duke and nothing less. The Duke of Bedford is a womanizer of the worse sort. Georgina's mother is determined that her daughter will marry him regardless of his reputation, but Georgina is drawn to the Duke's younger brother, John Russell. John Russell is stuck in a horrible marriage with a woman addicted to drugs and he is trying to raise his sons as best he can while managing his wife, lands and politics. He's also trying hard not to covet the woman his brother the Duke has his eyes on: Georgina. Through assorted events- lots of scandals and scandalous events, Georgina and John Russell fall in love and get married. While this isn't my favorite book by Virginia Henley, it's a good read. ( )
