nice pictures and plans- most way too elaborate for regular home gardener ( )

Wow! I must confess, I bought this book for the pretty pictures. If I had noticed the actual planting plans for various famous potagers, I might even have paid and fled the store immediately instead of my usual hours-long casing of the joint.

After just this one book, after all my endless hours of planning and hemming and hawing, I now have a plan of attack. A particularly perfect windbreak hedge, great ways of incorporating the orchard into the potager, low-cost paths (not to mention those great planting designs!) all make this one more than worth the price of admission. What an amazing find. If you hope to feed yourself like a good little Michael Pollan acolyte, then buy this along with Carrots love Tomatoes. Form AND function. How downright unAmerican. ( )
