Isabelle Colraine is back! Now in her second year at OXford, she's hot on the trail of a rumoured secret society of female CP enthusiasts that go by the name 'the Rattaners'. Isabelle and her two sapphic buddies, Jasmine and Caroline, are out to discover if they exist and to join them at all costs. She also meets several new playmates along the way, including 2 older, female dominas.

Another winner from Penny Birch. I love this character and her sexual misadventures and I'm looking forward to reading her third. The situations that she puts these characters in are sometimes funny but always erotic. This one is just good, dirty fun and I highly recommend it. First published by Nexus in 2004. ( )

Penny Birch writes erotic literature in a variety of styles, and involving different scenarios, not all of which will appeal to everyone, even though spanking in its various forms is common to all of her work. Differences between the books of her oeuvre mainly arise in whether the spankings (and the sex) are M/F or F/F. This book is about a female postgraduate student, Isabelle, who normally dominates two other girls, but who is interested in being dominated, and who is trying locate a group she has heard of who arrange spanking sessions. In this quest she is aided by a lecherous college employee, whose motives are distinctly selfish and, in the end, more than questionable. As she proceeds, Isabelle is indeed dominated, but not in the ways she would prefer, and indeed she makes serious errors of judgment. As other reviewers have said, the work is one of Penny Birch’s best; whether it appeals depends on what varieties of stimulus the would-be reader is seeking. This book is stronger on F/F than M/F. As always with Penny Birch, the book is well written; Isabelle in particular is strongly delineated. ( )
