Book description
The police are accusing Lovejoy of gutting a vacant old house, robbing it of chandeliers, moldings, even wallpaper. Lovejoy recognizes this as the work of his friend Prammie Joe, recently released from jail - and soon found murdered in his isolated shack. Lovejoy suspects that his friend was a pawn in a sinister antiques scam. To uncover it from the inside, he must somehow assemble a large quantity of antiques and pay at least one visit to The Great Marvella, a sexy intimidating foretune teller with a pet snake. Enlisting the help of Luna, his prim but eager new apprentice, Lovejoy begins to buy, sell, and fake antiques at top speed. But as his efforts lead him to corrupt dealers, stolen goods, and another mysterious death, Lovejoy senses his own life is in danger - and that antiques are only part of a larger plot tied to a centuries-old desire for revenge.
