Ужасно дразнещ и хаотичен стил. Ако не бях гледала великолепната екранизация, не знам дали изобщо щях да успея да вникна в съдържанието. ( )

I read the book for my book club in June and liked it a lot. The beginning was more poetic than I'm used to and frankly I couldn't follow the story at all. But the further the book progressed the more I liked the story.
Especially the part about the young family fleeing from Bulgaria to Italy and their experiences as refugees in camps fascinating. It's the little facts I found the most intriguing: like how they were surprised that it was quite difficult to find a policeman in Italy. They expected one on every corner, just like in their home country. Or how overwhelmed they were with the choice of chocolate available in the Italian supermarket.
