Excellent, comprehensive and readable review of the archaeology of South Uist, with good illustrations. Contains a fascinating look at patterns of living within prehistoric round houses. I particularly enjoyed "Beaker Bunny" - a helpful rabbit who would regularly clear bits of otherwise inaccessible ancient "Beaker" style pottery out of his burrow. Apart from this, it seems the rabbit is the archaeologist's worst enemy, destroying who knows what undiscovered treasures. ( )
