Sam and Alice were in the garden when Sam hears a chicken clucking. He tells Alice it is an egg so they go to find it. They then want to bring it back to the house and have to decide how to get it there. Sams hat or Alice's bucket. They then start heading back and avoid the geese because Alice is afraid and they get back to the barn. They get in a tussle which makes the egg break. Alice goes off saying she doesn't like Sam anymore. Sam is upset but then hears another chicken cluck. He tells Alice another egg. They both go and find it.. They make up and go together to search for the egg. Working together they get it home to Sam's mom.

This book is about two friends who were playing and found an egg and decided to take it home. The egg broke and one of them was very angry and didn't want to be friends anymore, but there was another opportunity for them to be friends again, to forgive each other, so they found another egg and carried it safely to the house.
