In a case of mistaken identity, Amy is drugged & abducted by the hero, who believes she's his errant wife. He chalks up the changes in her, and her insistence that she's not who he thinks she is to the fact that in the short time they WERE together, his wife changed dramatically, culminating in her running off with another man. He thinks it's just more of her scheming, though he's puzzled about what she thinks to gain. It's plausible, but there were times I thought Amy was just a little too accepting of the situation, & too quick to forgive in the end. And there's a thread of her brother spying in France that didn't quite go anywhere. Of course, part of that could be that it's such a short book. ( )
