Amazon.com Amazon.com Review (ISBN 0553576496, Mass Market Paperback)

Harley Jane Miller is a world-famous pop star groomed to perfection by her controlling manager. She yearns for a chance to express her "real" self, to shed her sickeningly sweet good-girl image. She hasn't been on her own in nine years, so she plans a two-week vacation in New York City and gives her manager the slip after a late-night concert. Duncan Lang, the detective hired to track her down, is too sexy, smart, and nice for his own good. By finding Harley, he can prove to his family that he's no longer the slacker he once was. But when Duncan discovers why Harley wants time on her own, he just can't bear to bring her in. They make a deal: as long as Harley stays in close touch with him, he will keep her manager at bay, so that she can rediscover herself.
